Brief Description of Project
St Michael’s House Special National School, Skerries is a co-educational multi-denominational special school funded by the Department of Education and Skills under the patronage of St Michael’s House. The school provides education for pupils with Moderate General learning Disabilities. Some of the children have an added diagnoses of Autism and other complex needs. Age of pupils range from 4 years to 18 years of age. Each class has a teacher and 2/3 SNAs depending on needs. This project is the development of a new 14 Classroom Special Needs School for St Michael’s House Special National School, Skerries on a new greenfield site. The school will stay in its current building during the construction of their new school and will move to their new building on completion. Decant temporary accommodation will therefore not be required. The creation of adequate car parking for staff and visitors, adequate set down and pick up for pupils arriving by school bus, by car or by bicycle. The creation of adequate hard and soft play area in accordance with the schedules of accommodation, will also be required.
