The project consisted of the construction of 74 no. local authority dwellings and associated site works. There were seven main house types with variations on each of these. 316 bed spaces were provided. The site was a difficult site, with large changes in site levels and rock. The retaining walls on site were a big issue, and exercises were carried out to minimise the requirements as much as possible balanced with the need to maximise the use of the site. When work started on site underground conditions were found to be more difficult than anticipated. As Quantity Surveyors on the project we negotiated the value of all changes requested on site and ensured that the client got maximum value for money.
