At MacMinn O’Reilly Mahon, we recognise the importance of mechanical and electrical services in determining the overall financial viability of a project. For this reason, we believe that M&E cost management should be given the same attention and scrutiny that the civil, architectural and structural elements currently receive. In an environment where margins are key, the services element of projects can offer a further avenue for value engineering, which is all too often overlooked.
Some of the added value which MacMinn O’Reilly Mahon can provide includes:
Value For Money/Cost Certainty
Effective cost management of the M&E services at an early stage can significantly reduce cost and risk on a project. We identify key M&E cost centres and engage with the designers to actively value engineer these elements. This ensures that the design develops within budget and avoids missed cost saving opportunities or having to bluntly cut scope at a late stage.
Separation Of Design & Cost Function
Traditionally, M&E services are costed by designers only at the end of the design process and in the time that is left over when all other work is complete. Separating these functions allows for design and cost estimation to develop simultaneously. This allows for early budget intervention and value engineering of the planned systems before abortive design work takes place.
Single Point Cost Responsibly
Having a single point of responsibility for the project budget provides clients with the cost certainty that they require and ensures a co-ordinated and efficient approach to cost control.
